In my 34 years on this earth, I am lucky enough to say I have never known anyone touched by breast cancer. Amazing, right? My great aunt died of breast cancer before I was born, but other than that, it doesn't run in our family nor have any close, personal friends been diagnosed. YET. I say yet because 1.3 million people are diagnosed annually. I know the odds are one day I could personally face this or a dear friend may and I don't want to wait to do something about it!
I am so thrilled to be part of the Hunton for Hooters team and doing my part in the fight against breast cancer! Our team will be participating in the Komen Central Virginia Race for the Cure on May 7th taking place on Brown's Island. The morning is jammed packed with events starting at 7am with survivor photos and conclude at 10:15am with an awards ceremony. In between there is a Kids for a Cure Run, a 5K Competitive Run, and a 5K Recreational Run/Walk...something for everyone to take part in!
Thankfully, I have not only met my goal of raising $100, but have surpassed it with $295.00 raised to date! I am grateful to those who have pledged thus far and can't wait to see the grand total once all is said and done. Our team consists of 11 wonderful women so I am sure we will do an outstanding job of raising funds for this wonderful cause!
